Friday with Kray: Treecycling

A little jostling to unhook the ornaments was all it took for our parched spruce to relinquish many of its prickly needles.  It was past time to give the special tree a new place outdoors.  I swept up the needles to use for mulch around some bushes.

Local wildlife now have their chance to use our spent tree as they can.  My husband also wanted to use it as part of a natural barrier around a struggling apple tree that we'd like to discourage the deer from eating.

If a decaying evergreen doesn't set so well in your yard, you probably have a municipality willing to grind the tree up completely into mulch.  Just check with your local solid waste office or agricultural extension service.
