Thankful for Simple Family Times

Place settings may change over the years, but family traditions can still nourish our souls. Much as my husband enjoys the usual turkey dinner, we also relish other gatherings during Thanksgiving and Advent.
The kids have been crafting, visiting with Santa, even learning to ice skate.  We frequented a locally owned restaurant and took in a movie at the theater.  We avoided the shopping crowds and spent some time readying the house before unpacking our Christmas decorations.
Give a kid a crayon, and who knows what they'll come up with?  Our low-key effort to spend family time somehow earned me a crown.
