Cute as A Vintage Button

The antique treadle sewing machine that no one else wanted also came with a small collection of sewing notions, including buttons.

Tiny mother of pearl and bone buttons were mixed in with the tin full of plastic and metal ones.  They're a great supply to have around for sewing and crafts.

The buttons also appeal to my frugal side, since I found several cards full of new buttons that might even work on a new child's outfit. The girls and I found flowers, anchors and "jewels." Prices on the cards ranged from 10-cents to 20-cents.

A few of the buttons, like some snowflake shaped ones, made the perfect finishing touch to simple ornaments stitched on the treadle machine.
