Gathering at our nation's capital with hundreds of concerned women has including meeting others from our own states involved in the
Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families coalition. In my case, I was pleased to meet Donna Brigham, a married mother of two who is Resource Director at Macon Road Baptist School near Memphis. She wanted to share her concerns about the increasing number of children at her school with developmental disabilities like autism. She's a member of the Safer Chemicals partner
Learning Disabilities of America Association.

Our morning began with a much-anticipated visit to the Tennessee Tuesday breakfast with our state's US Senators. We and other constituents had the opportunity to hear both Senator Lamar Alexander and Senator Bob Corker speak briefly about their latest work in Washington. Then we lined up to have our pictures taken with them. The senate office sends those out as a special memento for constituents.

We met some of the senators' staff members at the breakfast, and appreciated the time both then and later in the afternoon to share our concerns with them. We're appealing to both Senator Alexander and Senator Corker to co-sponsor the
Safe Chemicals Act, because we think the healthy future of our children depends on cleaning up toxins in consumer products.
