It was a beautiful, blue-sky day when my family found ourselves driving along a dirt road, then crossing the creek. I checked my directions, hesitating for a moment when I realized just how remote and rural our destination seemed to be. We were visiting the familiar Ozarks, yet down the road quite a few miles from the place where I'd grown up on the hog and cattle farm.
