Two For One Racing Team Overcomes Challenges

The challenge of a midnight 8K is motivating two East Tennessee friends to keep training against the odds. We first introduced you to Vicky Wallace and Melissa Peplow in May.  They've since named their racing team Two for One, have coordinating racing shirts, and have another race behind them.  In their first race since naming their team, Two for One finished a moonlight 5K in 34 minutes and 36 seconds.

If you're in the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee area July 27, be sure to cheer on Two for One as they compete in the Midnight Road Race 8K.  They're also working up to a half-marathon.

So far, the team has managed to race without a new sports chair.  For now, they've decided to retrofit Wallace's existing chair with new "frog leg" casters that allow for better movement.  They've also added new tires better suited for speed.  Two for One racers are appreciative of the emotional and financial support they've received for the team and have been very frugal with their improvements.

Wallace, who has overcome a series of strokes, uses her one strong leg and arm to propel herself, only pushed by Peplow when going uphill.  The friends also cross-train in martial arts, which helps with overall fitness. Wallace drives the pair to most training and events, since a rare visual impairment leaves Peplow legally blind.

Two for One is determined to motivate others to get out and work toward personal goals, stay fit and find a source of faith to keep you going.
