Hubby's Do-It-Yourself Bermuda Plugs Project

My husband, always the frugal one, has aspirations of growing drought-resistant Bermuda grass in our lawn. No, he doesn't want to invest in sod or even plugs of grass.

He decided to grow the Bermuda grass himself from seed.  Because he'd had poor results from direct seeding Bermuda in the lawn before, he devised a project to create his own lawn plugs.  He reused plastic drainage pans to hold a seed-starting mixture and gave it a go.

Results have not been very successful.  We had heavy rains and his pans lacked proper drainage holes to keep the moisture level moderate.  We'll see if this frugal project yields enough sod plugs to improve our yard...
