One of your favorite Southern stories at
FlourSackMama is the history and utility of
gourds. We visited a gourd artist and gourd farmers in Georgia to bring you their stories. These folks have been really creative about preserving heritage while sustaining their local economy.
A favorite Southern storyteller we met this year was
Silas House, but then you probably already know who he is. Maybe you've read one of his novels. He's very popular with folks who care about preserving mountain heritage and a healthy environment in the face of mountaintop removal mining in Appalachia.
We enjoyed this
fresh approach to the Southern church potluck dinner.
