Spring Pruning Reminder

Dogwood - leave it alone now
Here's a reminder that there's still time to do some early spring pruning in your own yard.  Senior Gardener Mathew McMillian from the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum cautions that it's too late now for trimming early flowering shrubs or trees such as rhododendrun or dogwoods.

Crape Myrtle - still time to prune

It's a good time, McMillian says, to prune deciduous non-flowering trees such as oaks or maples.  It's also okay to trim later-blooming bushes such as roses, crape myrtles and summer azaleas.
