Spring's Buzzing Backyard Life

Rain is now drenching the vegetable plants we put out earlier this week when the sun was soaking our backyard.  What fantastic weather it was for appreciating the outdoors.

My oldest daughter took pride in planting her own small garden with vegetables she had started from seed at school.  My youngest laughed with joy while she chased butterflies throughout our yard.  Although I failed to capture one in a photo, we counted no fewer than five distinctly different butterfly patterns.

I did manage to sneak up on a bee while it sipped honeysuckle nectar.
.  Ants paid me no attention while they inspected the peony buds.
A striped lizard froze when I spotted it among last fall's crisp leaves at the edge of the forest.  Now for some more sunny days...

  1. I love your photos! And I think it's great that your daughters are involved in gardening and enjoying the outdoors!

On the other side of the mountains, we've been getting a lot of rain lately. My lettuces and collards have been really loving it, but I'm having to be careful to keep some of my small seedlings from floating away! Yesterday was our last predicted frost date, so I'm anxious to start planting out some of my tomatoes and other warm loving plants. I think I'm going to demonstrate restraint and wait until we have a predicted warm/sunny stretch, though.

Hope you get some more sunny weather!
