Art Contest Entries from East Tennessee |
Broad splashes of primary and secondary colors made a fun morning of painting for some of our East Tennessee friends. We hosted a young artists' playdate as part of the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Art Contest. Handprints and broad brushstrokes created bold, somewhat abstract versions of a healthy future according to a toddler or preschooler.
My school-aged daughter, who is really into writing, created a more realistic version of herself along with the words, "I want our world to be clean." Several little hands pitched in to create a mural that we stamped with "Our Future," in hopes that any lawmakers who have a say in safer chemicals efforts will remember who their constituents really are.
Thanks to the Safer Chemicals coalition for providing some art paper and non-toxic children's paints. The versatile paint is from Nature of Art, and is labeled "Eco-Friendly Water Based Non-Toxic Certified & U.S. Made." Small artists' canvases and paint brushes were supplied by FlourSackMama.com.
How sweet! Yes, thank goodness we are beginning to look into all these toxins out there! Nice meeting you, fellow Tennessean.
